This USB 3.0 20-pin motherboard header female to USB 2.0 9-pin (2×5) male adapter cable allows a USB 2.0 internal header device to connect to a USB 3.0 internal motherboard header. It is commonly used in PC builds where a motherboard has available USB 3.0 headers but the case or internal accessory uses a USB 2.0 header connection.

The adapter converts the connector format only and operates at USB 2.0 speeds. It does not upgrade USB 2.0 devices to USB 3.0 performance. The compact 0.15m length is ideal for neat internal routing and small PC cases.
